L@四月｜ZIYUAN CHEN：中国城之爱/ LOVE IN CHINATOWN
大家周末好。
继亚特兰大种族仇恨枪杀案以及近期在美国激增的针对亚裔群体的仇恨事件之后，“停止亚裔仇恨“的运动在美国各地风起云涌。
作为艺术从业者，我最近总在想除了此时此刻的游行和抗议，我们亚裔艺术家/画廊还能做些什么去改变一些什么，让这个复杂又多元的社会向好的方向哪怕前进一小点点。从去年的“黑人的命也是命”运动中，想必在美国的朋友们不难看到支持黑人商户/黑人艺术家的实质性进展。那么L@作为华人经营的艺术家画廊，作为年轻的实验空间和艺术家社群平台，我们就更要承担起助推亚裔艺术家的重任，发扬并推广亚裔艺术文化。聚集起来坚守在纽约的亚裔艺术家们，为之提供更多机会。和大家，在纽约这个大熔炉里不卑不亢的坚持着我们的梦想。
通过社交网络我们看到画廊很多朋友都参与了近期的游行活动，而遍布全美各地的唐人街/中国城首当其冲成为了这次活动的主战场。而接下来LATITUDE画廊为大家呈现的展览就是源自纽约的中国城。
L@郑重宣布，L@四月的首场个展陈梓源：《中国城之爱》将于4月2日正式开幕。展览开幕定于4月2日下午6点至9点。这是艺术家陈梓源与L@合作的第一个展览，她近期创作的系列将在画廊布鲁克林展厅首次与观众见面。尤其是策展人在看到各种攻击亚裔的新闻和参加过上周的亚裔抗议运动之后，深感此时展出这批很有分量的作品将会有着更多的意义，也等不及分享给各路画廊朋友。

中国城之爱（Love in Chinatown）是艺术家陈梓源于2020年疫情期间开始的个人项目。这个为期一年的摄影项目，涵盖了艺术家辗转纽约不同的中国城的随机记录，以及为在中国城生活的素人们拍摄的他们的动人故事。伴随时间的推移和项目的深入，艺术家的图像从最初的“一个中国人对中国城游客视角般的记录”，到试图接触，并希望展现这个社区的爱与凝聚。在最终的呈现中，艺术家将这一过程得到的图像重组并置在一起，透过这些平淡中带有一丝荒诞的图像，我们得以窥视2020到2021年间，纽约中国城变迁的一隅，对话一个艺术家视角下的不十分“传统”的年轻中国城形象。

艺术家陈梓源
陈梓源出生于中国，现工作和生活于纽约布鲁克林。本科毕业于清华大学美术学院服装设计专业，研究生毕业于纽约视觉艺术学院时尚摄影专业。从设计师到时尚摄影师，她不断探索设计与媒介共生的多种可能。她的摄影作品传递着先锋的亚洲美学和对“人”的敏感与关怀，曾登上Vogue Business, 1 Granary, Dazed Fashion等杂志和媒体。于纽约求学起，她对文化身份认同的命题产生共鸣，先后拍摄Enroute和Danny Boy等相关个人项目。带着对社会和文化身份不确定性和多重性的疑问，她在不断对话自身中学习和探寻文化融合的真正意义。
Ziyuan Chen is a New York-based photographer. Born and raised in China, she majored in Fashion Design from Beijing's prestigious Tsinghua University. Shortly after, Ziyuan set her sights on New York City in order to pursue further studies in the School of Visual Arts, where she obtained her Master's degree in Fashion Photography.
Being formally trained as a fashion designer and later as a fashion photographer, allowed Ziyuan to have a better understanding of the symbiotic relationship between Design and Media, and how to better communicate thoughts, concepts, and beliefs through visual media. Her work encompasses various genres of media held together by one common thread - a desire to explore and convey the new aesthetics and perception of oriental culture in the 21st century, as well as her sensitivity and empathy for the people portrayed in via her works. Her photography has been published on Vogue Business, 1 Granary, Dazed Fashion, amongst others. Since studying in New York, Ziyuan has resonated with motifs of cultural and social identity and worked on several related personal projects such as Enroute and Danny Boy.
Uncertainty and a self-conflicting duality of personal social and cultural identities were at once a cause of anguish and anxiety for Ziyuan, but present now a sea of possibilities for further self-learning, growth, exploration, and discussing what the true meaning of cultural integration is.
